Foundation with Sunscreen

This recipe makes approximately 5oz of foundation

Ingredients:

  • 1.5oz Almond Oil (or unrefined, raw, organic carrier oil of your choice)
  • 1oz Shea Butter (organic, raw, unrefined)
  • .5oz Cocoa Butter (organic, raw, unrefined)
  • .5oz Beeswax
  • 1/8t Vitamin E
  • .5oz Zinc Oxide (UN-coated, non-nano, and not micronized)
  • Cocoa Powder (organic)
  • Cinnamon (organic)

Tools:

  • Double-boiler
  • Kitchen scale
  • Whisk
  • Container for finished product (see more below re: container choices)

Make It:

  • Using your scale and the tare function, measure and combine the first five ingredients into your double-boiler.
  • DO NOT add the zinc oxide, cocoa powder, or cinnamon!
  • Completely  melt the first five ingredients, stirring occasionally with your whisk.
  • Remove from heat and allow time to cool a bit (a few minutes…and wipe excess moisture off the outside of your bowl, too).
  • Place your bowl back on the scale, hit tare, and add in spoonfuls of zinc oxide until you get to .5oz. This gives you approximately a 20 SPF coverage (as it’s approximately 10% of the total weight. Whisk to completely combine.
  • Add 1/8t cinnamon; whisk to combine.
  • Add cocoa powder a little at a time and whisk to get to the color you need…
    • 1/2T cocoa powder is a light foundation
    • 1/2T plus 1t is a medium foundation
    • 1/2T plus 2t is a medium-dark foundation
    • Simply start with 1/2T of cocoa powder, whisk to combine, check on your wrist for a color match, and add more cocoa powder (1/2t at a time) until you reach your perfect color
  • Pour into your selected container and allow to cool.

Body Care Recipes

  • 1 t Zinc
  • 1/4 t Cacao
  • 1/16 t Cinnamon
  • Medium Powder
  • 3 T Arrowroot Powder
  • 1.5 T Cacao Powder
  • 1 T Zinc
  • 1/4 t Cinnamon

Notes

You can add french green clay, bentonite clay, cornstarch, silk powder, drops of jojoba oil, lavender essential oil and/or peppermint essential oil.
You can also use colored Mica instead of the cocoa and/or cinnamon and/or ginger.

**Add 4-5 drops of Vitamin E to your spice grinder while mixing to help your healthy new powder stay fresh longer!

Lavender Rose Body Polish

Lavender-Rose  body polish

Grind 1 cup dried rose petals, as finely as possible, using mortar and pestle or coffee grinder. Mix the ground rose petals with 1 teaspoon sea salt, 1/4 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup buttermilk powder, 1 teaspoon cornmeal and 3-5 drops of Lavender essential rose oil. Pour everything into a food processor and process until you have a fine mixture. Add just enough olive oil to create a paste when you want to use the scrub. Store remaining mixture in a lidded container.

Homemade Whipped Body Butter Recipe

1-1/3 Cups of Shea Butter
½ Cup of Olive Oil
1 t Of Vitamin E Oil
1 T Vanilla Extract
1 T Emu Oil

Directions: Heat the Shea Butter slowly in a medium sized sauce pan until the Shea is in liquid form. Add the olive oil and emu oil.  Let the mixture cool for about 30 to 40 minutes. (Do not let it set fully back up.) Add the Vitamin E and the Vanilla Extract.

Use a stick blender to whip the mixture until its very light in texture. It will give off a “mousse” like consistency. Make sure you blend in everything very well.

When you have reached the desired consistency you can spoon your finished product into some kind of container. You can use any type of container as long as it has some sort of lid, as you do not want to expose this to air for long periods of time. Do not over pack the whipped body butter or you will defeat the purpose of it being whipped and light.

Perfume

Just a few Combinations I've been working with,  You can mix them with your favorite carrier oil for a dab on perfume.  I've also been working on some solid perfume concoctions, I will share when I've perfected.

Combine Essential Oils to your liking, using the following combinations

Grapefruit
Clary Sage
Pine
Frankincense

#2
Sandalwood
Bergamot
Cassia

#3
Geranium
Coffee
Patchouli
Sandalwood
Clove
Cardamon
Bergamot

#4
Patchouli
Clary Sage
Bergamot
Cardamon

Headache Remedy

1 ounce Vodka (or Carrier Oil of your choice)

10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

Rub on temples, being careful not to get it too close to your eyes.

Alternate Recipe:

20 Drops Peppermint EO
17 Drops Eucalyptus EO
15 Drops Cajeput EO
10 Drops Rosemary EO
10 Drops Lavender EO
5 Drops Roman Chamomile EO
1 Drop Helichrysum EO
1 Drop Vetiver EO
2 ml vodka or carrier oil (grape seed or safflower)

EO=Essential Oil

Anti-Inflammation Oil

18 Drops Eucalyptus Blue Essential Oil
18 Drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
12 Drops German Chamomile Essential Oil
6 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil
6 Drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil

Blend together and apply on location 2-3 times daily.

Note:  when using coconut oil, I like to heat it slightly, just until it is liquid, so I can mix the essential oils in.  Then store in an airtight container.  Coconut oil will turn solid again, but as soon as it touches your finger, it will turn into liquid, so start with a small amount.
